Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the best rental home in Emerald Isle:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. 103 Ebb Tide Plus, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

More considerations for your visit:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
