Booking the best rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the best Havelock vacation home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 103 Ebb Tide Plus, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, contact the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
