Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Booking your Havelock vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your family choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Dogs OK! 4BR 2nd Row Duplex w\/ FANTASTIC Ocean Views! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
