Tips for getting the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- To start, have your family choose dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Amazing Sound Front Cottage with Private Pier and In-Ground Pool!!! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
