Havelock vacation rental booking tips:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Amazing Ocean Front Cottage on the Crystal Coast has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
