Strategies to get the perfect Havelock vacation property experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your Havelock vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Spacious 2nd row half duplex in Emerald Isle! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If there's an individual Havelock beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
