Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- To book the largest rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Finding the best vacation rental:
- First, have your family choose dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ange De Mer (Sea Angel) has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
