Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Atlantic Beach rental home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by having your family decide on date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. ?? Renovated, family-friendly condo across street from the beach - with pool! ???? has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
