Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Havelock rental & When to go:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental home:
- To start, have your family choose vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Seascape - The Perfect Oceanfront Getaway! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
