Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing a perfect Havelock vacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Awesome Views, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
