Our top Vacation rental tips:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best rental in Pine Knoll Shores:
- First, have your group agree to dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beachwalk! Oceanfront, top floor, glorious views! 4 BD\/4 BA pool & elevator has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
