Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Havelock vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful Canal-Front Cottage with Deepwater Boat Slip, Waterfront Deck & W\/D has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's an individual Havelock attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
