Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Havelock trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect Havelock vacation home:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 5BR, Ocean Front, 1\/2 Duplex! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
