Finding the best rental home experience:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
