Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Beautiful private beach house with access to sound has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
