How to find the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Well maintained 4 bed\/4 bath house in quiet area has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
