Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Atlantic Beach. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Breathtaking oceanfront views that will create wonderful memories has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Havelock attraction you love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a great stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
