How to find the best Havelock vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • To get the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

How to choose and book your prefect Havelock rental home:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Canal-Front Condo with 5' Deep Water Boat Slip, AC, W\/D & Walkable Location has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
