Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:

When to reserve a Havelock rental home & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your Havelock rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • First, have your group choose date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 1st Floor Unit With Ocean View, Swimming Pool, Elevators has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your group.
  • If there's a particular Havelock attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
