Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • To start, have your group choose vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 1st Floor Unit With Ocean View, Swimming Pool, Elevators has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If not, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a specific Havelock destination you simply love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
