Booking the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- First, have your group agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Charming 2-bedroom Oceanside apartment in the heart of Emerald Isle has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your group.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
