Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer is high season in Beaufort. Booking your Havelock vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Coastal home with private hot tub and fire-pit, close to local attractions has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's a specific Havelock destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
