How to find the best vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning and picking the best Havelock rental home:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Diamond Girl, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 10 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
