Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Booking in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your prefectrental home:
- To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront 10 bdrm w\/Pool\/Elevator on The Point. Best Views on the Island! has 10 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
