Tips and Tricks for getting the best Havelock rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your family's Havelock trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Emerald Hideaway, New Oceanfront,Private Pool, Hot Tub,Game Room,Theatre Room has 10 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
