Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. Book your Havelock vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the perfect rental in Atlantic Beach:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Front Dunescape Villas Condo! (Dunescape 335) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a specific Havelock attraction you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
