Tips to get the optimal Havelock vacation property experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Emma’s Resort, Casa De Agua “The Home By The Water and The Crystal Coast\" has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
