How to find the best vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:

- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Enjoy Historic Downtown Beaufort, NC - Voted Best Small Town in America has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
