Tricks and tips to get the best Havelock rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfectvacation home:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Rita’s Rejuvenating Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is right for your group.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
