Tricks and tips to get the optimal Havelock rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect vacation home:
- To start, have your family choose dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Family affordable & close enough to all the fun stuff! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you crave, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
