Tricks and tips to get the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect rental home in the Havelock area:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Family affordable & close enough to all the fun stuff! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
