Finding the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Fantastic soundfront home with Inground Pool!! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
