Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Atlantic Beach. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. License to Chill - Atlantic Beach, ~NC~ has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
