Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Book your Havelock rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. License to Chill - Atlantic Beach, ~NC~ has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
