Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in Pine Knoll Shores:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beachfront Condo with Amazing Ocean Views and Great Amenities has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
