Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Family Entertainment Beach House, Hot tub has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
