Strategies to get the perfect Havelock vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Havelock area:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Sea Shanty Bring your boat!!10% off for a 7-night stay! Pet Friendly! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
