Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. New Condo, Pool View, Walk to Beach, Arcade! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
