How to book the best Havelock rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
How to pick the perfect vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Second row, easy beach access, views and a pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Havelock attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
