Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your Havelock vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the best Havelock rental:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Newly renovated condo, indoor & outdoor pools, 3min walk from beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
