How to find the best Havelock vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Pool - Ocean Front - Dogs OK! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Havelock attraction you are crazy about, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
