Our top Havelock vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- To get the largest rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking a perfect Havelock rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths on sound and walking distance to beach and shops has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
