Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to book a Havelock rental & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose and book the perfect Havelock rental:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront (Grande Villas) 4 bedroom 4 bath Luxury 60 + ft of balcony has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
