Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
When to book a Havelock rental & When to go:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best rental home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront stunner in Emerald Isle has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
