Strategies to get the perfect Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing and booking your Havelock rental:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanview, poolside, 2BR\/2B condo sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
