Our top Havelock rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Reserve your Havelock vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Perfect Pool View & Steps to the Beach at APATB! #177 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your group.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
