Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Get the best value:
- To find the best value, change your family's Havelock vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting and booking the best Havelock vacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Perkins Cottage- Ocean Front, Pet Friendly Home has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
