Tips to get the optimal Havelock rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Relax at this classic beach cottage. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Have a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
