Tricks and tips for getting the best Atlantic Beach rental experience:
Get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Atlantic Beach:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sea Salt - Classic Atlantic Beach home - perfect vacation location! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
