Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Beaufort. Reserve your Havelock vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book the perfectrental:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Secluded waterfront home that is 5 min away from downtown Beaufort has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is best for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
