Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- Start by having your family commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Secluded waterfront home that is 5 min away from downtown Beaufort has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
