Finding the best rental home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To get the best value, change your family's Havelock vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Quiet Beachfront Location, Great separate living areas for families has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's a certain Havelock attraction you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
