Tricks and tips to get the optimal Havelock rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation home:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.

- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.

- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective.
