Tricks and tips to get the best Havelock vacation home experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sound of the Sea 303W - 1BR Ocean Front - Just Renovated!! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If there's a specific Havelock beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
