How to find the best vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Dog-friendly cottage across from the water in a walkable neighborhood has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Havelock destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
